Pitcullo Castle, Dairsie, Cupar, Fife

Pitcullo Castle is a category A listed, late 16th century tower house made up of a main block of three storeys with an undercroft, and a stair wing. It is situated in an elevated position among the rolling hills of north-east Fife, overlooking the North Sea and St Andrews.

The castle has been previously decorated using KEIM over 15 years ago. It was in fair condition with some exposed areas abraded away by prevailing wind and rain. The wet dash was in good condition with some green growth in projecting areas.

The specifier, Morris and Steedman Associates, have used KEIM on many projects before and wanted to continue to use KEIM on this particular castle due its performance over the years.

KEIM Algicid was used for both the removal and protection from mould and algae. KEIM Granital in colour 42H62 was applied onto the previously painted render to give this castle another 15 years of breathability and longevity. The sandstone details, such as the window surrounds were treated using KEIM Lotexan N to provide a water repellent coating.

The owner said “first class product and excellent knowledge advice. We were delighted.”
