Description

Keim Ecosil has been specifically developed in response to the rapidly growing demand for a truly environmentally friendly paint for interior application.

Keim Ecosil interior paint is water based, solvent and VOC free, contains no plasticisers or biocides and is odourless. It is also non-allergenic, breathable and inherently resistant to mould and algal growth.

It is ideally suited for the decoration of interior walls and ceilings in areas such as public buildings, schools and hospitals. Suitable substrates include all mineral plasters, concrete, plasterboard and sound previously painted surfaces. It is not suitable for wood or metal.

Keim Ecosil is a longlife finish but is of a comparable price to vinyl silk emulsions. It is the perfect complement to the rest of the Keim silicate paint range which comprises a water borne potassium silicate binder, inorganic mineral fillers and natural earth oxide colour pigments.

Consumption rates are intended for guideline purposes only and are quoted for smooth rendered surfaces.

Actual rates are the responsibility of the applicator. Project specifications should be referred to for specific rates.

The benefits of Keim Ecosil have been realised at St Malachy's Church in Belfast, SECC,  St Francis of Assisi Academy in Kensington, Liverpool, and Howe Dell School in Hatfield.

Areas of Application

Provides a proven longlife decorative and protective integral finish. Keim Ecosil is generically comparable to Keims extensive range of mineral silicate paint systems. These have been proven to perform for periods in excess of 100 years. Keim Ecosil has been used on over 1,000,000m2 of internal surfaces throughout the UK.

Features

Compatible with environmental needs Being water based, solvent and VOC free, Keim Ecosil satisfies current environmental demands. Manufactured in accordance with ISO 14001 : 1996

Odourless Comprising an inorganic binder, mineral fillers and earth oxide colour pigments, it has no residual odour following application and is non allergenic. Ideally suited for decoration of areas where relocation of occupants would be impractical.

Breathable and anti-condensation The microcrystalline structure of Keim Ecosil allows for the free passage of vapour out from the substrate whilst preventing the ingress of moisture. Suitable for areas subject to high condensation such as kitchens, bathrooms, changing rooms etc.

Non-flammable Keim Ecosil is inherently non combustible and complies with the latest Euronorm fire performance legislation for surface spread of flame and low noxious emissions.

Increases light reflectivity The microcrystalline structure also provides a higher level of light reflectance compared to organic film forming paints of a comparable colour. This results in energy savings through achieving reductions in lighting levels. Also visually a bright matt appearance is achieved.

Highly obliterative Provides a dense flat matt appearance when applied as a two coat system onto all mineral substrates including in-situ and precast concrete.

Economical A 2 coat Keim Ecosil system eliminates the cost of a primer/mist coat. Independent cost studies indicate it is comparable in price to a vinyl silk emulsion system.

Application Guidelines

New Plaster / Render / Blockwork

Leave new surfaces a minimum 15 days to dry out and when surface is clean and dry apply Keim Ecosil by brush, roller or airless spray. After minimum 5 hour period apply final coat of Keim Ecosil in like manner. Always maintain a wet edge and work out well.

Existing Painted Surfaces, Dry Linings and Repairs

Remove loose and flaking paint to a sound edge, abrade gloss surfaces and clean. Apply Keim Ecosil Grund by brush or roller. After a minimum 5 hour period apply final coat of Keim Ecosil in a like manner. Always maintain a wet edge and work out well.

Do's & Don'ts

- Leave new plaster / render / blockwork 15 days before decorating.

- Maintain a wet edge and roll out well, cut in whilst still wet.

- Do not apply below 5°C or in excess of 30°C or on wet / damp / salty surfaces.

- Clean all brushes and tools in water and wash off spillages immediately.

- Remedials - redecorate to nearest visible break lines.

- Periodic washing down using mild detergent and soft bristle brush will maintain appearance.

- Redecoration normally only requires washing down and single coat application of Keim Ecosil.
