Description

Most conventional masonry paint systems rely on being able to adhere to the surface to which they are applied. Usually the better the adhesion the longer the paint lasts. However, such paints restrict the movement of vapour through the substrate which can result in the paint blowing off or the degradation of the substrate. Keim Granital forms a microcrystalline bond with the substrate to which it is applied. This maintains the breathability whilst being able to withstand severe exposure conditions.

The silicate structure of Keim Granital, like sand, resists acid and alkali attack. It is inherently non-combustible and its earth oxide colour pigments are UV stable and do not fade.

Keim Granital is compatible with all forms of mineral substrate, being of a similar alkaline nature. This high alkalinity also means that algae and mould growth are retarded.

It is completely resistant to attack by pollutants such as acid rain or exhaust fumes. Unlike organic paints the surface does not retain an electrostatic charge and therefore does not retain dirt in this way.

The benefits of Keim Granital have been realised at the following projects:

Royal Opera House, Kew Gardens, O2 Arena, Fulham Palace, Prestonpans Mural Trail, St John's College in Oxford, Tun Abdul Razak Research Centre, Londonderry's Playhouse, Belfast's Gas Works, Greater London House, Somerset House,  Bacup Sure Start Nursery Murals,  Wadham College in Oxford and Edinburgh's Tollcross, Ursuline Convent in Cork  to name but a few.
