Description
Building regulations state that, for new build works, the surface lining of walls and ceilings should meet a Class O fire performance in all areas other than small rooms and circulation spaces within the actual dwellings.
The regulations do not apply retrospectively when internal redecorative works are undertaken but the Duty of Care of Local Authorities and other official bodies is paramount and the requirement to conform to the best achievable standard is the criterion.
To aid the selection of the most appropriate solution for the redecoration of internal, previously painted surfaces the following flow chart has been produced.
