Think No Odour, Think Keim Mineral Paints

"You may be aware of the Watchdog Programme that was initially broadcast on Thursday 27th May, 'Crown Paint – not to be sniffed at and the subsequent programme 'Kicking up a stink ... again' on Thursday 10 June, where Crown and Dulux paints were brought to task for their smelly paints.
"I was interested to see that hundreds of bloggers have complained about stinking walls and wonder what to do next. The smells being experienced, to name just a few, include musty, gas, dirty, dead animals, ammonia, wee, drainage and rotten eggs.
"This phenomenon could be as a result of the introduction of paints with low and no odour formulations that previously had a higher solvent content which masked any underlying smells in the walls. Alternatively the smells could be associated with bacteria or chemicals at some level, where the paint is reacting with the old paint on the wall surface or with a chemical or bacteria present from within the wall itself.
"It's extremely difficult to determine the cause however, if it is the paint; Keim Mineral Paints have an alternative solution, Keim Optil, a natural choice which is odourless during or following application. This paint is suitable for any mineral substrate; it doesn't fade or embrittle and can be applied over sound, existing paint layers, cutting down time in preparation.
"With excellent coverage you don't need as much, it's easy to apply and in particular it's environmentally friendly, being OSO14001 certified. With low VOCs, category A/a, it is perfect for people who are sensitive to chemicals or suffer from allergies or asthma as well as being kind to the environment.
"It is resistant to abrasion, soiling, mould, mildew and algae. It is breathable with high vapour permeability, permitting the passage of water vapour through it. It is also fire resistant, being naturally incombustible and gives off no toxic emissions when subjected to fire.
"Being a mineral paint the microcrystalline structure forms a chemical bond with the surface, rather than a coating, providing exceptional long life protection and decoration. This gives rise to long term whole life cost benefits because repaint cycles are significantly reduced and there is no need to strip off Keim Optil prior to washing down and repainting. Very often redecoration will simply consist of a single coat application.
"We take pride in the fact that we produce a truly environmentally friendly and sustainable paint that doesn't pollute the air and offers uncompromising quality. If you use Keim Optil interior paint, you will have the perfect combination of exceptional appearance, healthy living and a long lasting quality interior finish," said David Pratt, Managing Director, Keim Mineral Paints Ltd.
