On the Waterfront

Albion Riverside is already a familiar landmark on the south bank of the Thames between the Battersea and Albert Bridges and is amongst the most desirable apartment living in London. Built for Hutchison Whampoa, a major global company whose property and hotel interests include prestige developments in many parts of the world, Albion Riverside has been designed and built to the very highest standards.
Foster and Partners have designed every aspect of the development from the master planning of the site, the building and the interiors down to the door handles. They specified Keim Mineral Paints for both external and internal applications. Keim Concretal Lasur has been used externally to harmonise the finished concrete whilst retaining its natural ‘as struck’ look and to improve cleanability to ensure the building retains its pristine appearance.
Keim’s Lotexan water repellent finish has also been used to protect the 7½m V shaped columns, which form a grand colonnade route through the building from dirt and to suppress dust in communal access ways without affecting the visual appearance of the concrete.
With a proven longlife performance, Keim Mineral Paints will be a key factor in maintaining the elegance and striking appearance of these high specification luxury apartments. This longevity is based on the chemical crystalline bond the paint forms with the substrate, maintaining breathability whilst withstanding exposure to severe weather conditions. It is resistant to algae and mould growth, completely lightfast, inherently non-combustible and environmentally friendly being odourless, mould resistant, solvent and VOC free and produced using only natural inorganic materials.
The Concretal Lasur system is a low pigmentation colour stain available in a wide range of shades which can be used successfully when an opaque treatment would be out of keeping with concrete aesthetics. It is ideal for unifying variations in the colour and texture of concrete whilst retaining its structure and look.
The principle element of Albion Riverside is an 11 storey residential building of 183 apartments and 12 penthouses. It curves back from the river in an asymmetrical crescent, maximising river views from apartments and creating landscaped public open spaces. The river frontage is largely glazed with sinuous white concrete balconies with clear glass balustrades, accessed from the apartments through glazed full height sliding panels. Typically floors have 26 apartments arranged around four service cores. There are 35 single bedroom, 84 two bedroom and 7 four bedroom apartments together with duplex penthouses on the top floors.
With apartments currently being sold from £315,000 for a single bedroom apartment to just over £2 million for a four bedroom apartment, facilities are all of the very best with air-conditioning, wiring for smart technology enabling main services to be controlled remotely either on the internet or by mobile phone, interior partitions to allow spaces to be opened up or divided for different uses, and balcony extensions to the living spaces. Albion Riverside is designed to become the heart of a vibrant, newly created quarter for London with shops, business spaces, cafes and leisure facilities.
